Starting STELARA® in 3 Easy Steps

We want to make starting and staying on STELARA® as easy as possible. That’s why, in addition to our other support services, you’ll have a dedicated Nurse Navigator to help you throughout your journey on STELARA®.

Below, we’ll walk you through the three steps to starting Crohn’s disease treatment with STELARA®, then we’ll introduce you to the team that will assist you every step of the way.

 

Step 1

STEP 1: Confirm Coverage

To confirm your insurance coverage for STELARA®, call Janssen CarePath at 877-CarePath (877-227-3728). A Janssen CarePath Care Coordinator will contact your insurance company to confirm coverage for your one-time intravenous (IV) infusion and your subcutaneous maintenance injections. Your doctor’s office or your Care Coordinator will contact you with coverage confirmation, and you and your doctor will make a plan to begin treatment. Your Janssen CarePath Care Coordinator will also identify options that may help make STELARA® more affordable, if needed.

STEP 2: Infusion Appointment & Savings Card

Next, you’ll need to find an infusion center near you and make an appointment for your one-time IV infusion of STELARA®. Your infusion appointment is a nice time to relax, catch up on e-mail, listen to music, nap, whatever. It’s also a great opportunity to meet others who are taking control of their Crohn’s disease.

After you’ve scheduled your infusion, and you meet the eligibility requirements, you should enroll in the Janssen CarePath Savings Program and activate your card online at Stelara.JanssenCarePathSavings.com or by calling Janssen CarePath at 877-CarePath (877-227-3728). Other options may be available to make your medication more affordable, so be sure to ask.

Be sure to contact your healthcare professional after you’ve had your one-time IV infusion dose of STELARA® to schedule your first subcutaneous maintenance injection.

Step 3

STEP 3: Ongoing Treatment

After you’ve had your one-time IV infusion dose of STELARA®, ongoing treatment consists of subcutaneous maintenance injections every 8 weeks to help keep the disease under control. Your doctor will decide if your maintenance injections will be given at his or her office or if you’re ready to self-administer in the comfort of your own home after proper training.

Once your insurance benefits have been approved, expect a welcome call from the specialty pharmacy, informing you of your coverage and out-of-pocket costs for your subcutaneous maintenance doses. They’ll also assist you with the ordering process. STELARA® will then be delivered to your home or your doctor’s office, depending on what your doctor decides.

That’s it. Then it’s just up to you to stay committed to the treatment plan to help keep your Crohn’s disease symptoms under control.
