What is STELARA™?
STELARA™ is a proven treatment that helps manage your psoriasis with 4 doses a year after 2 starter doses. It’s an injection given under the skin by a healthcare provider as directed by your doctor at weeks 0, 4, and every 12 weeks thereafter. Each injection is given using a small needle. STELARA™ is available in 45 mg or 90 mg doses; your doctor will choose the right dose of STELARA™ for you. Make sure you keep all your scheduled follow-up appointments.
Medical Study Results
- In a medical study, 7 out of 10 patients treated with STELARA™ saw at least 75% skin clearance, and 7 out of 10 patients had their psoriasis rated as cleared or minimal at 12 weeks.
- In another study, nearly 9 out of 10 patients who initially responded to STELARA™ and continued therapy maintained skin clearance at one year.
- In both studies, treatment with STELARA™ helped provide relief from the symptoms associated with psoriatic plaques, such as plaque thickness, scaling and redness.

To study safety and effectiveness, STELARA™ has been tested in over 2,200 patients in medical studies. The safety and effectiveness of STELARA™ have not been evaluated beyond two years. Changes in patients' plaque psoriasis symptoms and any side effects were closely observed.
STELARA™ is approved to treat adults 18 years and older with moderate or severe psoriasis that involves large areas or many areas of their body, who may benefit from taking injections or pills (systemic therapy) or phototherapy (treatment using ultraviolet light alone or with pills).

How STELARA™ Targets an Underlying Cause of Psoriasis
An overactive immune system can lead to high levels of IL-12 and IL-23, two proteins that have been found in psoriatic skin plaques. STELARA™, a biologic medicine, binds to IL-12 and IL-23. By preventing these two proteins from attaching to cells in your body, STELARA™ may slow down the production of skin cells and may reduce inflammation.
STELARA™ may improve your psoriasis but may also lower the ability of your immune system to fight infections and may increase your risk of serious infection. STELARA™ may also increase your risk for certain types of cancer.
